The Challenge

BioScript Solutions has spent over two decades helping patients with chronic illnesses access specialty drug therapies. From a single infusion clinic in Atlantic Canada, they've grown into a national network of 100+ clinics and 13 pharmacies. But their digital experience hadn't kept pace with their physical expansion.

The complexity of specialty pharmacy is staggering. Patients need to track complex medication schedules, coordinate with multiple care providers, and navigate insurance reimbursement. Healthcare providers need visibility into patient adherence and treatment progress. Reimbursement consultants need to manage benefit investigations, prior authorizations, and appeals — often for drugs costing thousands of dollars per dose.

Most healthcare apps fail because they try to be everything to everyone with a single interface. BioScript needed the opposite: one platform that could present three completely different experiences, each optimized for its user type, while maintaining data consistency and HIPAA-grade security across all of them.

We designed the BioScript app around the principle that the best healthcare technology disappears into the workflow. Each user type should feel like the app was built specifically for them — because in a sense, it was.

We built a unified backend with a flexible frontend layer that transforms based on user role. Patients see medication tracking and appointment scheduling. Providers see adherence data and clinical workflows. Consultants see reimbursement pipelines and authorization status.

For patients managing chronic conditions, we focused on simplicity and encouragement: medication reminders, refill tracking, appointment scheduling, and direct messaging with their care team — without overwhelming them with clinical complexity.
